The FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich nominates Grandmaster Eugenio Torre (Philippines) as a Chairman of Appeals’ Committee for 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad. Legendary player and first Asian Gradmaster, Eugenio Torre holds a record for the most Olympiad participations (23), and now, serving as Appeals’ Committee Chairman he will bring in his experience and understanding of the spirit of chess.
“Grandmaster Torre is a true legend. For Asia and for the whole chess world. I find it deeply symbolic that he is going to serve as a Chairman of Appeals’ Committee at the Olympiad , an outstanding event, at which Eugenio holds not less outstanding record. I hope he won’t have too many difficult decisions to take – but if he will, we all may rely on his wisdom”, says FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich.
